Well, as you all can guess, I enjoyed this immensely. I can't believe i thought this would be an easy breezy light read. This book took me on an emotional journey: I laughed, I screamed out of frustration and anger, I teared up, I sneered in disgust, I gasped from shock, I gasped from terror. It was much more gore-filled and scary than I thought it would be. This story really has it all and I cannot begin to explain how acutely I emphasized with Patricia's feelings of hopelessness. WOW. I am sho

This was my first horror book and I highly recommend the audiobook to get full effect.
I didn’t know what to expect from the synopsis but it was so much better than I expected! Patricia is a housewife who belongs to a book club; they like to read true crime novels. I love true crime shows on Oxygen (like Snapped) and Discovery ID (Disappeared) so I connect with their fascination with this dark interest.
The supernatural pieces and the different ladies are what really pull you in. Is it what Patr ...more

This was absolutely not the book I was expecting at all. Like, at all.
I thought this was going to be a cute yarn about housewives in a book club plotting to kill a vampire over sweet tea, but that's probably my own fault for not really reading much about it. Instead I picked it up because of the title and cover. Yep, I totally judge books by their covers.
I hate to call a book in the early 90s historical fiction (it seriously hurts to do so), but in a way this was because I simply ca ...more

I really enjoyed the Southern Charm emanating from this book. However I think it was too unnecessarily long and drawn out. The story was fun and entertaining but there was just too much thrown in with very little action. Horrorstor was a lot better in my opinion, the action started early on, the book was fairly short and to the point. The vampire here in question wasn’t even all that exciting. Not to mention I’m still not 100% convinced he was a vampire-at least to our modernized way of ...more

Patricia joins a book club to fill up her time with friends and her hobby. As she and others branch away from the initial hostess, they turn towards mysteries. Patricia feels life is boring and hopes for a mystery to arrive that they can solve when James Harrison becomes that very person. Unexplainable things happen and the more Patricia and the women try to convince their husbands that he is the issue here, they gaslight the women and accuse them instead. Patricia and her friends finally take t

This was amazing; why it took me so long to read this is beyond me; I read the first 80 pages and started reading other books instead. When I realized I do this silly “never finish what I started”
…I set myself a goal to read every book I start lol this one was definitely a page turner and got better with every chapter. The ending was awesome too!
