I'm not sure how to feel about Snow's story. It was fascinating to see how he was when he was younger.
The story is so masterfully crafted, and I feel myself rooting for Snow, even though he's the villain, but we get to see him in a different light and it's really nice... besides all the bad thing's he's done.. he really is a great villain.
I also, love the Easter eggs and tie-ins to The Hunger Games series.

I wasn't really ever excited for this book and I'm kind of glad for that. Had I been expecting or hoping for more I think I would've been much more disappointed. As it is, this was all right but Snow is still and always will be a twat. ALSO BASED ON MATH SNOW WAS 84 IN THE HUNGER GAMES WHAT THE HECK.

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Review on K-Books
There are no words to describe just how excited I was when I heard Suzanne Collins was writing a prequel to The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is one of my all time favourite series and I can’t even count how many times I have read it. There was some controversy over the fact that this is from the perspective of President Snow. He was the key villain in the original series but I love a villain backstory. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes was, ...more

This was pretty slow compared to the original trilogy. And I was a bit confused at what happened at the end...I'll probably just read some other reviews to see what I missed.

I can't belive people did not enjoy this book! I will admit, I took my time getting to this one but once I started I ate it up! This was everything I wanted from a prequel and I will admit, I want more!
So how to review this and not give spoilers is going to be a real problem but here goes:
Basically this is a look back on a young President Snow, long before the Hunger Games trilogy began. Let me just say before going any further, I really hated Snow, I mean really hated him! But once I started th ...more

Did I reach for this book to read every chance I got - yes * check
Did I enjoy the story - yes * check
Were there a few sections that seemed to drag on - yes, not many, but just a few
Did I think about the book after I finished reading it - yes * check
... so 4 stars it is.
I'm surprised to see so many people didn't like this because I loved it. I liked the backstory of Snow. I liked how Collins humanized him and showed how the early experiences of Snow shaped him to be that mosnter we know as Presi ...more

This book was amazing!! I love this series. Like the other Hunger Games books, it is heartbreaking, but so good.
I can't believe I found myself rooting for Snow at times, but of course he goes back to being his awful self by the end of the book.
I really liked getting to see how Snow became the person he is in the Hunger Games.
So many plot twists, which is typical of this series.

Giving this 2.5 stars would be generous. The beginning was okay but it drug on a lot. The interesting part was when they actually got into the Hunger Games. I liked Lucy fine but she wasn't a spectacular character. The 3rd section was so bad. It should have ended after the games. The character development was not believable and most of the characters were very one-note... Probably all of them.
I felt this relied too heavily on the main trilogy for world building and didn't do a great job of it. I ...more
