What Members Thought

I didn't love the middle of this book (which is a big part of the story). But the pace picked up around the end and that's when I actually enjoyed this book. Interesting things started happening and I was fascinated by what was going on. It also ends on a dangerous cliffhanger and I'm hooked again. Now, most of the characters were annoying and going downhill but then I'm sure they'll get better in the next book. Zelie was getting on my nerves many times but I'm digging the romance with Roën? but

I don’t know what I was expecting for the second book but it wasn’t that. When authors make bold choices at the end of a first book and then basically undo it at the beginning of the second book it automatically annoys me and that’s what happened in this book. Also the dialogue and small battles felt repetitive. Ultimately I didn’t connect with this book like I did the first one. 😞

We follow Zelie and Amari after the fallout of trying to bring magic back to the oppressed Maji of Orisha. Not to say it back fired, but there is a whole new breed of magic and once again the the playing field isn't equal. War was inevitable, once the Maji got their power back they would go after those who broke them after it disappeared.

I loved this installation of the series even better than the first one. But I found Amari's change and Zelie's quest for power a little out of character.

the cliffhanger????? oh my gosh???? when is book three coming out? i need it now.
as always, the writing was beautiful and the story was so captivating. again, cannot wait for book three!
