4.5 stars. This was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed the expansion of the world as we and Spensa know it: the different alien species, the hyperdrive, Starsight itself. I was initially sad not to have more of the characters we met in the first book, but I am very keen to see where the next books in the series will lead on from here.

in this second book in the skyward series, spensa is determined to find the deeper truth as to why her father attacked his own team. on this pursuit for the truth, she learns even more hard truths and realizes she may have been fed even more lies about her world.
i should give the disclaimer that i read book one two years ago, so my memory of it wasn’t the freshest when i started this. however, i could still enjoy this book and remember enough of skyward’s plot ...more

Pretty good sequel!
This picks up not long after the first book and we get to see the squad, Spensa, Jorgen, Kimmalyn, and the others as they continue to protect the planet from the Krell. I liked seeing their bond grow stronger, especially Spensa and Jorgen. M-Bot is not to be left out either, he's hilarious and by far my favorite character. His journey of self awareness is great, trying to prove he's alive and practicing lying haha.

I was so glad to continue with this series! When I read the first book in the series it took me by surprise how much I really enjoyed it and wanted the sequel immediately. Unfortunately though I had to wait a little bit before I could continue the series. I found that with that gap between me reading the first book and this one I got a bit confused with some of the plot. I got confused on who some of the characters were but, the book was still really enjoyable. I really enjoyed how fast paced th

So when I first started listening to this, I thought for sure it would be a 4 star or 5 star read since I rated the first one 4 stars. I liked the way it started too, I was excited to see where the story would go. There were a lot of great things about it. I liked seeing more of the universe and aliens. I liked learning a bit more about Spensa's powers and about the world that was built in general. I didn't like that all the banter from the first one with the flight crew was non-existent and tha

I loved this book so much I am looking forward to the next book this one left off in a place that just left me yearning for more. I still loved the characters so much especially Spensa and M-Bot I like how they interact with each other and I love how funny M-Bot is never a dull moment with him around. I still love Spensa for her headstrongness and her want to do whatever it takes to save her people she is such a joy to read about. I loved the plot is started with a bang with Spensa in battle and

“That's what war is," Cobb told me. "A bunch of sorry, desperate fools on both sides, just trying to stay alive. That's the part that those stories you love leave out, isn't it? It's always more convenient when you can fight a dragon. Something you don't have to worry you'll start caring about.”
That ending!!!! OMG!!!! I guess I know what book I will be starting before the end of the year once I figure out the placement of the novellas. As always Sanderson did not disappoint me. I adore this seri ...more

It took me almost two months to read it but it was great nonetheless. For a while, I didn't think I would love it as much as Skyward but by the end, it was a 5 stars for me. Can't wait for the next one! The stakes are getting bigger and bigger, the main character evolve and I love it. (view spoiler)

This was OK when I read it, but I couldn't connect with it as well as with the first book.

I liked this a lot better than Skyward (which was good). Sanderson did a lot of great world building here. The new characters were well written and interesting. I liked the revelation at the end of Skyward that humans were being held on a planetary prison. I was glad that it was expanded on here. I’m looking forward to reading the next books in this series.
