Star rating: A 4 star for sure, but I bumped it up to 5 stars because it really left an impression

I both read this book and listened to the audiobook.
This is a pretty slow paced book, as in there isn't much substantial happening. You are more following Sadie and listening to a group of people trying to figure out what exactly happened with her. Meaning there is also a lot of overlap. (view spoiler)
The story is rather heavy and if you're easily triggered, definitely not the book for you. You really get to know Sadie, you don't get a shallow bland character, but really someone with depth and such. Rest of the characters weren't as build out, but that was fine.
Technical aspect, the writing, was good, nothing really to mention, point out.
As for the audiobook, it was good, the narrators were great, but I did have 2 small issues. 1 issue, I don't know if it's because the version of the book I read, but there were some sentences left out in the audiobook ?? Also here and there were some words changed. I don't understand what the point of that was, or maybe the book I read was just an earlier version and some changes have been made after it, so the audiobook using the most recent version of the book. Second at the start it was hard to follow who was who, because you get introduced to a lot of voices straight from the start. But this is always the case when a book has a lot of different characters. In this case having multiple narrators did help differentiating .
Great book, pick it up if you haven't yet and you don't mind a slow burn, more slice of life, mystery type of book with a heavy trigger warning theme. ...more

Wow, this book was not what I expected based on the summary. But, it isn't what I expected in a good way. I thought it was going to be a simple story of a girl aiming to get revenge for her sister's murder with a reporter following her story. Turns out it's a lot more than that. There is so much happening, both in the past and the present. The author did an amazing job of tying all of these strings together. Books rarely make me cry but I feel numb after finishing this. I don’t know how to move forward. It’s so deeply personal to me and so foreign at the same time. It’s mind boggling how much of myself I see in Sadie.
