OMG!!!
Q:
“Are they very poor?” I ask Ana Kuya.
“Not so poor as others.”
“Then why doesn’t he buy a donkey?”
“He doesn’t need a donkey,” says Ana Kuya. “He has a wife.”
“I’m going to marry Alina,” Mal says.

Full Review on my blog!
Woah. I don’t even know where to start.
The path that this book took was certainly different than Shadow and Bone, but that is not to say that I didn't enjoy it regardless. Siege and Storm had a very promising start because it wasted no time to continue where book 1 left us with.

Woah. I don’t even know where to start.
”You know the problem with heroes and saints, Nikolai?” I asked as I closed the book’s cover and headed for the door. “They always end up dead.”

All apart from the first third of this book was actually so boring. I loved the introduction of Nikolai (finally!) and getting to know Sturmhond! He gives off such Jack Sparrow and Damon Salvatore vibes, he was an instant favourite! Alina just continues to drive me up the wall, and her relationship with Mal just made me insane. But honestly, what I couldn't stand the most was how there was almost a love rectangle going on with such a 'plain boring mousy girl'... Uuuuuugh. I raged at Alina so muc

3 stars. And those three stars are only for the writing, The Darkling whom I still really like and Nikolai because he is a gem. Other than those three things, this series is quite dull. I don’t like Alina and find her to be insufferable and Mal is just as annoying. Also, this book was boring. A lot happens, sure, but none of it was interesting to me and I just didn’t care. I’m only wanting to finish this series because I want to read King of Scars. I’m not expecting much from book three but I ho

Siege and Storm is a book of two parts. The first part introduces a new character as they go on a hunt. It was fun, a little exciting and then the second part came around.
The second part is more political. Alina has to figure out how to build an army to help defeat the Darkling. It's a careful balancing act that becomes more evident. The struggles that Alina goes through are showcased in a way the audience hadn't seen before. It was a way to give her more depth and flesh her out more. Some peop ...more

I like that this author isn't one for only happy endings. I feel Alina was quite shallow in this one. She steps all over Mal, dragging him all over, and then stays upset with his choices. I am still wary of the Apparat. He doesn't seem as if he is one for staying loyal.

Ohhhhh my goooooodddddddd. I did not expect this book to be so dark. It's such a change from the last one. Which makes it even better. The fact Alina is going through all this crap and she's changing because of it is so nice to see. She has worries and doubts about what she did and what she's planning on doing. If anyone asks me what character evolution looks like I will shove this series at them (Let's be honest, I'll shove this series at them regardless of them asking). People change and it's

Re-read this one for the first time and it's just so fun.
So much angst. I'm here for it.
Still so in love with these characters, although I will say Mal is not a fave. But oh well (I think they have such better characterization of him in the Netflix show).
Will always hold this series in a special place in my heart. ...more

Still not a huge fan of Alina or Mal
I could not believe how quickly they were found across the sea and immediately brought back. It seemed almost pointless to have them able to run so far. I thought finding the second amplifier would be more difficult. I was surprised by the next turn of events but I really enjoyed it. I love the privateer. He is one of my favorite characters even if he is a clever fox. Mal is still one of my favorites but his character did things which I would consider very unlike him. I was interested to see how
