3.5 stars Surprisingly I liked this book. This book was more romance than I expected. A little slow pace for me; more dialogue than anything actually happening. I did enjoying and left me wanting more of the whole magic concept I wish it had more of that. Was waiting for the big action to start to show the swordsmanship of certain people but really didn't happen but it's okay. Although it took me a long time to actually read this book, I loved it. I don't really remember the original story, but I really liked this one. It's an amazing retelling. I adore Shazi, Khalid, Jalal and Despina, they're such great and strong characters. On the other hand, I absolutely despise Tariq. Ugh, just go away. There are some things I don't really understand, such as wtf Shazi's father is doing, but I don't like him either. And this ending was so so so so sad. What the hell??

great book to start my year with though not so great
i ended up loving the stories that shazi told more than the actual story itself
the love aspect was was entertaining to a point mostly because i love drama so the chase gets me going but when everyone is all booed up i get bored but i loved the love they had for each other,
it is an interesting read and would suggest it to all romance lovers.
