The only reason I didn’t enjoy this book to its fullest was because I saw the movie first.
I firmly believe if I hadn’t known the outcome, I would have given this book 5 stars.

I wish I never saw the movie… though it played a huge role for me as a child! I watched it a million times & they pretty much took the first line & the last line of the book & the rest was MOSTLY different. I love Alice Hoffman’s works so much! And I would like this book a lot more if it wasn’t constantly being compared in my brain, couldn’t help it… I ATE through most of her books I’ve read so far, usually within 24 hours and this took me a while to digest.. To start off, lemme just say: I am that person. I watched the movie before I read the book. I love the movie. It's probably one of my favorite movies, actually. So, I was bummed that the book is SO different... and I like the movie better.
