The writing is well done, the storyline will entertain you and the slow burn romance will touch your heart.

Gah! The feels!!! Second change romance is angsty but you add in the billionaire drama, jealousy fueled rage, and more and you have a book with all the feels. I’m not crying. There is a branch in my eye.

Ethan Everest…his name alone seems to resonate strength and control and despite the ordeal he must endure for trusting the wrong people, he is a commanding presence in the business world, keeping everything close to the vest and fighting back against his enemies who were once friends. But as proactive as Everest is when it comes to his professional life, his personal life is a mess, so his hot and cold demeanor when it comes to Singer Davis makes sense, but it also frustrated the heck out of me Ethan Everest…his name alone seems to resonate strength and control and despite the ordeal he must endure for trusting the wrong people, he is a commanding presence in the business world, keeping everything close to the vest and fighting back against his enemies who were once friends. But as proactive as Everest is when it comes to his professional life, his personal life is a mess, so his hot and cold demeanor when it comes to Singer Davis makes sense, but it also frustrated the heck out of me because his mixed signals could cost him a second chance with the woman who should have been his first choice.

I have to admit that I was a bit flustered by the first half of the book. I didn’t understand why Ethan made the decisions he did because based on his internal musings and even his dialogue with his friend, Singer was the woman he was drawn to…the one he imagined being with…the one he felt an instant connection to, so for him to not follow through when he had the opportunity to do so and then left and started a relationship with someone else despite his chemistry with Singer didn’t mesh well with his words. And, I didn’t feel like readers were truly given the reasons behind his choices because when Ethan and Singer reconnect, the drama in his life isn’t discussed for quite some time and there’s no indication as to why he walked away from Singer and never really looked back until he couldn’t give her anything more but friendship.

Singer Davis is a sweetheart of a girl, but she wears her heart on her sleeve and loves with every part of herself, which leaves her vulnerable, at times, especially when it comes to her feelings for Ethan. She felt their connection that very first encounter and even after a year apart, she still finds her heart beats faster when he’s around. The pseudo relationship that she and Ethan form is difficult for her to accept or to even understand, but her faith in what she feels for Ethan and what she believes he feels for her allows her to ride the confusion and wait for Ethan to let her in, in a way that he’ll never want her to leave.

The suspense aspect of the story doesn’t emerge until about 60% into the book and the way it plays out rattles both Ethan and Singer and forces them to face a cruel world that sometimes let’s the bad guys win even when the good guys try their best to prevent it.

Ethan and Singer’s journey is not an easy one; it’s filled with missed opportunities, life-changing moments, and a bevy of emotions that will either tear them apart or solidify a bond that started by simply seeing one another across a room. Ethan’s life is not ordinary, which means that being a part of it comes with a multitude of issues and readers witness both Ethan and Singer work through everything with determination, love, and trust, but getting to that point was not all hearts and flowers and that’s the reality of their love story that S.L. Scott presents to her readers.

But fate keeps tossing them together at different points in time, and this was one of my favorite things about the story itself. I love romance in general, but when an author can nail down the slow burn, keep readers guessing what's going to happen with the relationships, and have me practically chomping at the bit for more ... those are the best kinds to read. Scott captured all of that in the pages of Everest, by giving us a plot that was both exhilarating and fun to experience.

I liked the character development in this book. For me, of all the books Scott has published this year (and I've read them all -- you should too!!), these characters were the most relatable. I could really feel for Singer at times during the story, because I'd been in her shoes in some respect before. Even with the secondary characters, I felt like I could slide right into their world and be comfortable, or they could come off the pages and into my world and fit right in. I love that Scott was able to create that for me, because it made the experience of reading this story even more powerful for me.

Scott has really excelled in the suspense writing area, especially across 2017. I was excited to see she was ending the year by giving us yet another suspenseful story, that was filled with unexpected twists, while still keeping the romance at the center of the story. I love that this author is able to bring new elements from different genres into her writing, while still keeping the feel authentic and engaging me as a reader.

Everest is well-written, the plot is great, and the characters are wonderful. If you're looking for a suspenseful, swoon worthy romance to end your year with, then this is the book for you!

S.L. Scott is a must-read author for me. I find her stories to be angst-filled, emotional and engaging. Everest was all that and more. Ethan and Singer were like passing ships, but the connection between them was strong.

I loved Singer Davis. She is caring, sweet and such a good person. She is the kind of person everyone wants in their life. She had a big heart and was understanding and kind. You could not help but love her. I did feel she was too easy on Ethan, but it fit her personality.

One of the things that I love about Suzie, and that I'm always so interested in, is how very varied her books are, her characters, her storylines, and how each of the different tracks are so very well done. We've had rockers, and bartenders (both some of my favorites), and, now, Ethan. Ethan is larger than life, but his story is extremely resonant these days. He's a self-made man, but he's made some decisions that have left his life in a holding pattern. When Singer Davis enters his orbit the first time, the world is his oyster. The second time, timing couldn't be worse, but Ethan isn't one to hold back, and this is one of the things that I love best about him. He's an all-in sort of guy, and, this time, he's leading with his heart.

Singer Davis is a treat. She's following her dream, staying the course even though the going is tough. Love isn't even on her radar, and then, Ethan happens. He encourages her, lifts her up, and takes care of her, all while urging her to be the person that she wants to be. And, soon, she's his.

I loved absolutely everything about this book. The pages flew, and the story is, by turn, intriguing, suspenseful, playful, and passionate. I could not get enough of Ethan and his entourage, and Singer and Mel were the perfect foils for them and for each other.

I have the opportunity to read a lot of books in a year, and I like plenty of them, love several, and adore a few. EVEREST is on my Favorites of 2017 list, because it truly just hit all of the marks for me. Fans of Suzie's books should definitely be reading it, as well as fans of sweeping epic romance, and romantic suspense. Ethan and Singer will win your heart, of this I am sure.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK WITHOUT A LARGE BOX OF TISSUE NEAR BY!!!!

I have never, in my life, read a book that made me cry like this one did. The emotions were so raw and expressed so eloquently and heart-wrenchingly. Suzie's writing always gorgeous, but this one hit me in the feels so hard I had to stop reading several times, just long enough to blow my nose and wipe the tears from my eyes. ...more

What a journey S L Scott! Colorado, Texas, And New York...pursuing Dreams for their Jobs and their hearts, 2 best friends, optimistic despite any bumps in the road, don’t ever give up. Starting on a fire escape in the Bronx, Singer meets Ethan with a Heineken and dreams of a missed kiss. Where will their journey take them? Will it be worth it? Love always is IMO. Loved this and I have hopes for more from them in the future.
