I haven't read any of the other books in the series, but it's not an issue as these are all standalone.

The Rebellion is one of those books that you pick up with the expectation of reading a few chapters at time and the next thing you know it’s past dinner time and you just have to keep going. Because these characters and their stories pull you in and hold you tight until the very last page.

This second chance love story of Jaymes and Derrick was EVERYTHING!!
This is my first read by S. L. Scott and it certainly won't be my last. Derrick, the smoking hot, sexy rockstar with a sensitive heart and eyes only for Jaymes melted my heart. His charisma and thoughtlessness made him the PERFECT book boyfriend. There's nothing he wouldn't do for our heroine.

The Rebellion is an awesome book written by SL Scott. I would say this is a second chance romance. We meet Jaymes and Derrick. They were childhood sweethearts that for life's unfortunate timing were torn apart. Derrick becomes a rock sensation and Jaymes becomes a single mom barely making ends meat. Rebellion was well written. It had my attention from the very beginning. I enjoyed seeing the characters grow from young adolescents into young adults. As it went on, it felt like it dragged a bit, then it pick up again and the epilogue was a great ending. It's about second chances and starting fresh. There's a lot of anguish throughout the story. I think this is my favorite book in the series. James is a perfect edition to the Resistance women. She is very lovable. I really liked her character and how she protected her son and Mother.
