The Rebellion by S.L. Scott was such a good read.

The writing was well done, the storyline held my attention all throughout the book.
Derrick & Jaymes were likable, relatable characters that I easily connected with.
I loved watching them reconnect and go after their second chance at love. These two truly deserved their happily ever after.
I loved Derrick & Jaymes!

The men of The Resistance stole my heart from the first book. Rockers with heart. The Rebellion by S.L. Scott gives us Derrick Masters’ story. A story about second chances, hope and redemption.

Derrick is living out his dreams. He is a full member of The Resistance, the hottest band around, with the fame and fortune that come with it. But even though to others he has everything he could ever want, there is something missing. Or rather someone. The woman he walked away from years ago.

Jaymes Grenier let Derrick walk away because she loved him enough to let him follow his dreams. But the horrors that followed almost destroyed her. Instead she rose from the ashes determined to move forward.

I absolutely loved Derrick. He was going through the motions. The woman he has always loved haunted him, almost as much as the demons of his past did. He worked hard to get where he is, but something was missing. He was strong, determined, and loving. He was a bad-boy rocker, with a heart of gold.

Jaymes broke my heart. I think she saw herself as weak, but she was really strong, independent and fierce. She was a momma bear. She was determined to provide for her son and give him a better life.
A chance for a future she thought she had lost. When she loved, she loved unconditionally.

I don’t even know where to start. This was such an emotional story. Derrick and Jaymes met when they were young and loved hard. Inseparable, they dreamed of stardom and getting out of the binds that held them. But in the end, only one got out and the cost to the other was very high.

Reunited by two meddling mothers (you can’t help but love) years later, Jaymes is determined to keep Derrick at a distance for his safety. She is so happy for him and will not bring him down. Her fears and monsters are her own. But Derrick is determined to have Jaymes in his life any way he can. Slowly he brings down her defenses. He gets to know her all over again and spends time with her son. It was so sweet to watch them spend time together.

We also get to see all the other couples from The Resistance and remember why we love them all so much. They stand behind Derrick and Jaymes from the start. I want them to be my friends. They are amazing friends that stick together through thick and thin.

I absolutely loved this book. It was emotional and heart-wrenching, but also sweet and romantic. A second chance at love and redemption for both Derrick and Jaymes. A story that will captivate you from beginning to end.

I give The Rebellion 5+ stars! A must read!

SL Scott has done it again. The Rebellion has everything you could ever want in a book. Romance, sexy rock star, strong heroine, sexy rock star, angst, sexy rock star, second chance romance, did I mention a sexy rock star. As always the writing is superb, and SL Scott gives you a vivid telling of an awesome story.

SL Scott is one of my favorite, go to authors. Her books are always beautifully written and captivating. And she has written another winner with The Rebellion.

This is Derrick and Jaymes’s story. He’s part of a famous band and she is the girl he left back home. They are both living their lives but neither has gotten over the other. Do they get a second chance at love?

When Derrick left his old life behind, he rebelled against those who wanted to control his life; every step that Jaymes takes towards a better life helps her defy the control the mean man and her environment has over her; reconnecting with the other half of their souls allows both Derrick and Jaymes to challenge other people's dictates and pave a new path together - one where neither one runs away, fighting together to reach their common dreams.

I absolutely adore S.L. Scott's Hard to Resist series, and Derrick and Jaymes' story is a fantastic addition to Scott's collection of sexy rock stars and their better halves and I love the message that she makes about chasing dreams and never letting anyone decide what you can achieve in life and in love because everyone deserves that chance, they just have to be willing to fight like hell to get there.

I wasn't sure what Derrick Masters was all about..he seemed haunted by a past that I did not see coming! Derrick is fabulous. He has fought and sacrificed so much to get where is now. But was it worth leaving love behind?
Jaymes Grenier is a strong woman and mother making her own sacrifices for those she loves. Determined to keep Derrick away and safe she let him go to live his dreams. She is a survivor.

Scott has given us yet another amazing book, featuring a beautifully broken leading man, and a beautiful and strong heroine. Derrick left his love behind when he got out of his rough and tough child neighborhood five years earlier. Although leaving ended up leading him to his dream career, his heart never fully mended.

Jaymes lost her heart when she lost Derrick. Despite her sadness, she persisted in her own life, raising a son on her own and working to get her family to a better place. But when Derrick enters her life for a second time, things get turned upside down, and suddenly she finds not just her safety, but that of her son in jeopardy.

I could read second chance romance stories all day. The Rebellion is full of raw emotion. My stomach was twisted up in knots shortly after I started reading, and pretty much stayed that way for the rest of the story. I experienced so many different emotions while I made my way through this book. My heart would break one minute, and the next I was swooning and felt the butterflies in my tummy. Scott kept me glued to my kindle with a plot that was constantly evolving. I loved getting bits and pieces of the backstory between Derrick and Jaymes, and I enjoyed these coming in the form of flashbacks.

This book had a few big twists and turns that I definitely wasn't expecting. In the interest of avoiding spoilers, I won't share any of the major reveals, but I will say that the more I found out about how these two got to where they are in the present day, the more in love I fell with them and with the book.

Scott nailed the character development with this one, and not just with the main characters. The secondary characters are all at different places in their lives as well, and I got to see them develop as I was reading. Of course my primary focus was on Derrick ... who, as I mentioned earlier, owned me in this book. This man is so many things. He's talented, gorgeous, and the fantasy of women all over the place, thanks to his career. But he's also brilliant, emotional, and completely dedicated to those he loves. His passion—for music and Jaymes—jumped right off the page at me. Oh, and Derrick with Ace ... completely melted my heart! I was pretty much a puddle of mush by the time I got to the end of the story, and a lot had to do with the interactions between these two.

Kudos to Scott for giving us another rocking story with a bad ass heroine. I love how this author can write across so many different settings, with such varying characters, and nail it every time.

Anyone who loves rocker romance stories should check out The Rebellion. And make sure to check out the other books in the series as well, because they are all amazing!
