The book was really filled with scary moments and areas where there were cliff hangers. I think the best parts (where you would read faster to see what would happen) in the book were the tention parts filled you with worriedness and gave you a feeling in which you would feel that you were going to go crazy.

This book was just a taste of more tragic things to come in the Baudelaires' lives. Still fun and dark at the same time. Loved it! ...more

I just listened to the audiobook read by Tim Curry. This time they didn't have voice actors for all the characters, just good ol Tim read for everyone.... and I found his Count Olaf to be right creepy. This is no surprise, Tim Curry is great. I also really enjoyed his Mr. Poe.

I'm enjoying these audiobooks! Lemony Snicket himself reads the next three, so I'm excited to see how those turn out!

Simply put, dramatic irony is when a person makes a harmless remark, and someone else who hears it knows something that makes the remark have a different, and usu-ally unpleasant, meaning. I love this series! Count Olaf is treacherous!

This book had quite some giggles but the fact that the author kept getting in the middle of the story to talk about himself his life or one of the characters past lives or even explain a word was getting on my nerves.
