It's interesting just how much of this book I missed when I originally read it at 8 years old. I don't remember the exact year I read it, but I read all of the books at one point, and didn't recall some of the more disgusting details.
Now I've read it again and some of the details caught me a bit off-guard -- like Count Olaf's associates making some comments towards 14-year-old Violent that seem like the characters have a sexual interest in her.

Start of a truly tragic but fun-filled story. It may be a young adult read but Mr. Handler wrote it in such a way even adults will appreciate the dark humor. Fabulous!
it was ok but one thing i dont get is the others are practiccly the same
Ah yes, the book that started it all. I really don't even think I have any opinions of this book because I've read it so many times? I'm not even as angry at Mr. Poe, to be honest, because of all the dumb things he does (or doesn't do) later. (Though I must ask, come on Klaus, why must you tell Count Olaf his plan so that he changes it? Come on.)

Ill always love these books..which is why im rereading them..although the first couple books are short..which is why i read the first book in 2 hours..i still love them..
