I would have loved to have had a book like this around when I was in high school. It follows three high school seniors who are dealing with being gay. Each is at different level of acceptance and being out to their families. Kyle, Nelson, and Jason each come from very different families and social groups, but what they each deal with is what draws them together. I'd heard that this book was good, and it truly is fantastic YA gay lit. I just keep wondering how to recommend it to students without being creepy.
The shared perspective narrative keep Jason, Kyle and Nelson all very important,allowing the reader to get attached to one more than the others perhaps (Kyle for me), and follow him a little more intently. I'm a fan. ...more

Rainbow Boys was easy to read and hard to put down. The story flows smoothly and easily.However,some emotional details were missing and in effect, readers couldn't really grab the soul of the story, perhaps due to the target reader of the novel.
