I saw this movie before I read the book. I liked the movie and the actors were great, but there is so much in the book that even the best actors can't convey, and another complete story line that there just wasn't time enough to explore in the movie, making it less than it could have been. There is a whole element of human compassion, loyalty and commitment the movie doesn't touch on by leaving this story line out, and that renders the movie far shallower than it should have been, I think. ...more
