What I liked about this book was the father-daughter relationship. Jonah was very cute, just like all brothers are. I find Nicholas Sparks' books closer to reality than any other author's. He has this knack of portraying relationships very well. And his books make you cry, even this one did. I feel that is what makes them realistic. Because according to me, in real life you hardly see people who live "happily ever after". There is some kind of grief or loss in everybody's life. Lucky are those who have not seen a death in their family or haven't grieved for some kind of loss in their life.
Most importantly, I like the fact that people in his books have better things to do other than to get into a bed, the way it is in most of the romantic novels. I like the way his main protagonists are actually in "love", not just physically. I find romantic novels boring and uninteresting. I have tried reading plenty of them in the past and have given up or ended up hating them. But I can always read a Sparks' book, because in some way I can relate to the characters very easily, I can empathise with what is happening in his books.

One thing that I found little silly, which happens to be the reason why I did not give the book 5 stars is -

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! i love how there are multiple conflicts that tie together in the end. nicholas sparks has made very lovable and relatable characters. all teens must read this book!!! WARNING : YOU WILL CRY
