Safe Haven in Nicholas Sparks Novels

I made the wrong move on checking out people's opinion to it on goodreads. It is a normal thing for me to do before; reading their reviews and how they rate it. But now I should have trusted my instincts that I will always love a Sparks novel.

Upon doing so, I've learned that I will be surprised in the end. After reading that statement i've already regreted what i've done and didn't continue anymore and as I read the book that already burn So here's my take on Nicholas Sparks' novel, Safe Haven. I made the wrong move on checking out people's opinion to it on goodreads. It is a normal thing for me to do before; reading their reviews and how they rate it. But now I should have trusted my instincts that I will always love a Sparks novel.

Upon doing so, I've learned that I will be surprised in the end. After reading that statement i've already regreted what i've done and didn't continue anymore and as I read the book that already burned in my mind and look for hints. I knew already that there's something fishy with Jo's character by the way Nicholas Sparks wrote her. Katie and Alex, the main charcters beside Jo, have their own POVs but she hadn't. Even Kevin have his own even if he started in the middle and as I went on and made it to the (middle) of the novel I already made assumptions and picked up the clues that helped me. I could feel my guts telling me i'm right and I was just waiting for the novel to materialize what I'm exactly thinking. By the time I was close to the end I have proven my assumptions are right and on the last 5 pages. The writer had finally reavealed what I have known and anticipating all along. Maybe my great fondness of reading Dan Brown's novels also helped me a lot to figure it out but with it comes the realization I wished I haven't known it all along. I wish I could be surprised the way I have been before whenever I read novels that are supposed to surprise you in the end, because for one thing it's more enjoyable and fun rather than having it spoiled. Anyway like any other Sparks novel i've read I made a sigh of fullfilment and contentment as I finished the novel. I cried like I've done with the others but this time it was something I haven't expected and only came in the end with the last couple of pages, so I guess there's the absolution from ruining the supposed to be surprise revelation on one of the characters.

I could also see traces of the way he wrote his former novels in here. The characters having their own battle within themselves, the way he describes the setting, the overflow of emotions, using flashbacks as part of the plot the way he narrates the story, how the characters could suddenly make you think about life and reflect, and a dash of faith and religion wherein will make people think about themselves and the things they've done.

Like before I was a bit bored on the first couple pages, but as the story goes on and the pace starts getting exciting I wasn't able to stop myself the and page just kept turning. I slept very late, only a few hours before dawn forcing myself to stop and just continue again the following day.

When I close the book I know I will miss the characters I have come to love and shared their stories with and once again Sparks has proven why he should remain on the top list of my favorite authors.

This was an excellent book.. I really could not put it down.. I read it in one sitting. I became interested in the characters from the begining and the character of Kevin I hated more then any other character I have read about in a very long time..
The story was told from Katie/ Erin and Kevin's point of view and I found it interesting seeing it from Kevin's point of view.. it was very dark and twisted...
