This book definitely intrigued me. A carnival full of supernatural folks? Um yes, sign me up! I really enjoyed reading it and while I do want a little more, it wrapped up very nicely. Full review can be found at Gabriella M Reads.

Freeks is set in the 1980's. Big plus for me. I love so much about that decade.
The traveling carnival side show was also a plus.
Mara is an OK character. Not a typical teenage girl. She wouldn't be, with a necromancer for a mom. Traveling with other people that have powers.
She was somewhat... Or at least the dialogue turned super dramatic when she was around Gabe. Townie and crush. If I heard about the heat when he touched her... Or how thin her clothes were between their bodies one more time?
