So this book had A TON of Simon, which was great because he's awesome. That being said, other characters were definitely not as present. Alec and Magnus didn't show up until halfway through the book. Jocelyn and Luke are getting married but they're hardly in the book. We got A TON of Jordan too. Yeah he's a new character and he had a lot to do with Simon's storyline but still I wish the original characters had more to do. City of Fallen Angels is the fourth book in the mortal instrument series by Cassandra Clare. I read the first three books in the series a long time ago, and I thought it was time to finish the series.
After what happened in Idiris Simon has been keeping his life as human as possible, somehow he ended up “dating” Isabelle and Maia at the same time. But soon his calm normal life will be shaking by some people trying to attack him on the streets. Clary has been training with Jace, but he has been City of Fallen Angels is the fourth book in the mortal instrument series by Cassandra Clare. But soon his calm normal life will be shaking by some people trying to attack him on the streets. Clary has been training with Jace, but he has been distant. They have been keeping the secret of him dying and coming back to life, but they will not be able to keep it for longer. Alec and Magnus have been travelling around the world but they will have to come back so Magnus can help the Clave with an old friend of him, who will make their relationship weaker.
City of Fallen Angels was a really good book, highly enjoyable, even though I got lost at first due to the gap in time I made between books. Apart from that I really enjoyed the book. I think the plot was great and I really liked how everything happening came together at the end. I also enjoyed the fact that they made mentions to the other series, The Infernal Devices, without really giving up anything. As characters I think Simon has developed a lot thought the series, in general. I also liked how Clary starts believing a little more on herself. I love the interactions between Alec and Magnus, they feel like perfect together. However, I think Jace hasn’t improve his character, after everything Clary has done to show him how much she loves him he stills think he doesn’t deserve him. Also, in my opinion the adults were really left out in this book, they appear really little and somehow the young characters are able to keep everything from them.
The plot was intriguing and captivating, although I did found the actual ending a little expectable. However the rest of the plot was nail-biting and I didn’t know how everything was going to come together.
To conclude, City of Fallen Angels, and The Mortal Instruments series in general is highly recommendable. However, I did recommend reading them without waiting too much between books, or you will feel as you are getting a little lost. In addition to that, I really recommend reading The Mortal Instruments mixed with The Infernal Devices in publication order because the stories get mixed and you will enjoy this book much better. ...more

I enjoyed this book, it was entertaining and although it was slow at points I enjoyed reading and learning more about what was happening with the characters. Admittedly it wasn't my favourite of the series so far, but the ending is setting up for an epic conclusion to the series. ...more
