I have way too many thoughts to actually say everything I want to so I'm going to keep this short. I really liked this book a lot but..... HOW ARE JACE AND CLARY GOING TO BE A COUPLE IF THEYRE BROTHER AND SISTER?!? Like honestly, I don't know how Cassandra is going to do it. Okay onto characters. I really like Simon but there is no way I could ship him and Clary. They are more like brother/sister than Clary and Jace. But I still really love Simon and he deserves This book, where do I even begin! I have way too many thoughts to actually say everything I want to so I'm going to keep this short. I really liked this book a lot but..... HOW ARE JACE AND CLARY GOING TO BE A COUPLE IF THEYRE BROTHER AND SISTER?!? Like honestly, I don't know how Cassandra is going to do it. Okay onto characters. I really like Simon but there is no way I could ship him and Clary. They are more like brother/sister than Clary and Jace. But I still really love Simon and he deserves someone that will love him with all their heart. Next, the Lightwoods. From the beginning I thought they were kind of mean but there was something that made me love them. I wasn't really surprised that Alec was gay but I ship him with Magnus so far only because Jace is for Clary. Jace. He is so CUTE!!! I love how in the beginning he was this big tough guy and I'm so nervous that because of the ending, the next books he's going to be soft. Somehow he is going to have to overcome his sister,y feeling toward Clary cause they are meant to be. Clary, I really like her character. I felt like she could be more independent but other than that I don't think she has many character flaws. Except, you know, SHES FREAKIN JACE'S SISTER!! Okay my feeling for Hodge is very... Wavering. I honestly don't hate him. I know that he's done a lot of wrong things, especially giving up Jace (but I feel like he knew Valentine wanted his son for family purposes), but idk I just feel like he felt sorry about everything but idk. I kinda like Hodge. Luke. I LOVE LUKE! When he was thought to be a traitor I was upset but we didn't really know him. After he saved Clary I realized that I loved him. I cried 3 times in this book (just tearing up but still) and each time it was because I thought Luke was going to die. If that doesn't say something than idk what does. Valentine. Ew gross I don't like him I'm not even going to talk about him. There are a lot more people I want to talk about but I am going to stop here. I felt like the small things in this book were predictable but the ending though!!!! Every thing that I was like "why was this needed" was rounded up well and I loved it. Wow, this was a long review. 5/5 stars. ...more

i read this earlier last year and i was such a great read. this was such a great begining to a series. it had action and romance. these characters were to well written and each character had their own personality, there were no double ups with personality's and that's great thing.

i love Clary and Jace's relationship, they are so good together.

even though this ended in a way i was not expecting, i still adored this book.

The story just never stops! There was a lot of action, one thing that kind if ruined it for me was one of the twists got spoiled for me, and so while I was reading I was just waiting for it to happen. I think it changed the way I read the story, but I did really enjoy it.
