My problem with this book is that I was hooked with reading the chapter postings on the author's blog and thus paid no attention to the fact that this is Book 1...in how many?

Much of the story follows canon but we are first introduced the the connections between humans and dragons and the treaty which maintains peace between the two species. Then there are humans who hear and can talk to dragons. Elizabeth has inherited the role of Dragon Keeper from her father and thus is also under rule to mar

What a great start to what will be a fantastic series! Maria Grace has combined to of my favorites, P&P and fantasy, in a truly unique and amazing way.

Imagine that dragons are real. Imagine that to stop a war between human and dragon kind, Utter Pendragon negotiated a treaty, resulting in the two races working together. Yes, that Uther. Now imagine a myriad of dragon species, from the tiny fairy dragon to the regal fire drake, and more we have yet to discover. That is the opening premise of the

This is an amazing combination of fantasy and the classic Pride and Prejudice. Maria Grace's masterfully interwoven drama with the missing Fire Drake egg and Jane Austen's original story was impossible to put down. The drama between Darcy and Elizabeth was there and intensified by the dragon bonds. The dragon world is well thought out and ordered and adds to the story making this a wonderfully unique and otherworldly variation. The story ends with the main issue, the Fire Drake Egg, being resolv ...more

4.5 stars! I listened to the audio book version and it was a delight! I really enjoyed the authentic parts of my favorite classic book blended with the world of dragons. Our beloved characters are true to their characters for the most part and there are some fun new dragon characters to meet and love. The dragon aspect was very well thought out and explained making this an interesting and fun story. Elizabeth is all we know her to be and love her all the more for contribution to the dragon world ...more

Dragons still exist in Regency times (many attached to estates, but some living wild), and Elizabeth Bennet is talented at dealing with them. When Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy appears in Hertfordshire looking for his stolen dragon egg, they will be thrown into company and will need to work together. Will they be able to find the egg? Will Elizabeth be required by her father’s estate dragon Longbourn to marry her cousin Mr. Collins? Will she become the new dragon Can she and Darcy get over their misunde ...more

Very inventive. I enjoyed lots of aspects but did find it was a little long/wordy at times and there is quite a bit of Austen dialogue reused. Very clearly part of a larger series as there are far more questions raised than answers given, and therefore it doesn’t really stand alone.

This was a very entertaining read. After all, what's not to like - Pride and Prejudice and dragons? Mr Darcy comes to Meryton looking for his stolen dragon egg that he needs desperately. If the egg hatches without bonding to a human, it will become wild and will start a war between humans and dragons. Elizabeth Bennet can speak to dragons and is intended to marry Mr Collins because the estate will pass to him and the estate's dragon needs a dragon keeper (one who can hear dragons). The egg has b ...more
