[close] Shiver is a book about a guy named Sam and a girl named Grace as they battle the hardships of Sam being a werewolf. Grace is your everyday girl while Sam is an antisocial pessimist. The two tackle many different problems in Shiver and deal with the impending doom that is the winter season. The positives of Shiver were definitely the description of the setting. The setting painted a picture of a perfect winter. Another positive was the character development for Sam. He really grew as a person throughout the novel. The negatives would be the character Grace. She came off as a complete basket case from the first pages of the book. The writing style is also a negative. Maggie Stiefvater wrote as if the reader's had no common sense. This book would be good for young adults that enjoy werewolf culture and romance. It would also be good for someone who likes when the point of view switches.
