Water for Elephants was a romance and thriller with the addition of the heartbreaking woes of the aged main character in a nursing home recalling these events. This book takes the reader through Jacob Jankowski's life from college to near death, which really allows the reader a deep look into who he is as a whole. The love story mixed with murderous secrets makes for a tantalizing tale that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat.

The beginning was a little slow, but I really enjoyed the story line and most of the characters by the end. Some of the scenes in this book could have been deleted and it is not really school appropriate, but it is definitely an interesting story.
