Goddess Unbound is the conclusion to the Airlud Trilogy; the story of Airsha, the Goddess Incarnate, her men, and the war for magic. Airsha, the Airluds, and their children are reunited with Flea, Zem and the rest of the rebels. The final battle of the war is quickly approaching when Airsha is kidnapped right out of the rebel stronghold. She is taken by Trace, magical son with the ability to steal memories. Her husbands don't give up easily though and with Flea and Zem's help, Airsha is rescued and returned to the rebels along with Trace. He also has a role to play for the Goddess. Plans are put in place, obstacles faced, and the final battle is waged against the Godling. The outcome will decide if the lands will be ruled by the Godling and his priests. Whether it will be a land where magic is controlled by a few, and others are castrated or put to death to protect the power of these few or if the Goddess will again rule and magic will be free to anyone born with it. Not everyone will make it through the battle either way. The risk will be high, but the fight is a worthy one.

I can't say I was pleased with this book. It's well written, but I was disappointed. The focus was hardly on Airsha and her Airluds. The war was the central focus. I was not pleased at all with the Goddess's plans with the role of Trace, and there was way too much Flea POV. I fell in love with this trilogy because of Airsha, Darkin, Rama, Calun, and Jaron. I felt cheated in this book, because their is very limited brother time. And for Airsha to fall for Trace immediately turned me against him even more. To feed him, be intimate with him, and forgive him so quickly and continue to love him after the truth was revealed and restored left me feeling icky. I felt like everything involving him was too predictable, but even then I couldn't endorse it. The war made a nice backdrop in the earlier books and was obviously going to take center stage for the conclusion, but it was just too much to keep my interest. And I realize that the Author loves Flea, and I swear I tried to give her a chance, but I simply do not like the girl. When she makes the statement that Airsha shared her husband's affections with her, when Jaron refers to her as our girl, my dislike grew even more. I think she's overly familiar with Calun still, intrusive, brash. I don't find it believable considering their beginnings that she would become a valued member of the family and loved by Airsha. So the fact that it felt like half of the book was her's made it less enjoyable to me. I would not be surprised if she gets her own spin off books. I will not be reading them.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity. This was an original, entertaining trilogy, but this particular book missed the mark. It marred the entire trilogy by not focusing on the special love of Airsha and her Airluds. Not enough Darkin. Not enough Rama. Not enough Calun. Not enough Jaron. It's a shame. ...more
