The story starts with Avalon when she's five. Monsters are coming after her family and her parents think that the the only way to stop that is to send Avalon away.
So she has to go live with Edgar and three boys for ten years. There they all prepare for the day they will have to enter Spearwood.
I have really mixed feelings about this book. I'm not sure if I like it. It was interesting and managed to capture my interest but at the same time it was kind of confusing in some parts.
