upon consideration/reflection, I've found that this book is definitely not a 5 star book. While the plot and characters were super engaging, it was COMPLETELY predictable. The 'plot twist' was something I had figured out like from the first few chapters and a lot of the character's were not developed nearly enough. A very worthy entry in the dystopian world genre. Nicely creative and hard to predict. I look forward to reading the next book.

This was an amazing thrill ride. Definitely a new favourite! I loved Mare and Cal! I loved the red blood vs silver blood. I loved the rigid monarchy and rulers! I loved the powers people possessed! I loved the rebellion!

One more thing on Mare. I found her strangely relatable. I haven't felt like that in a while. So I kinda love her a lot now.
