WHOA. Just... WHOA.
When I first started reading, I wasn't super into it, it took about 50-75 pages for me to really get sucked in and get attached to the characters.
I think that even though it did seem like a few popular YA books smashed into one in some aspects, I wasn't really bothered by it, it's pretty hard to be super original these days since almost everything has already been done. This was one of the books that I had high expectations because all the hype that existed around it, and believe me, it didn't disappoint. In some ways this book is similar to other dystopian books, but then there is also some unique characteristics about it. Victoria Aveyard, you are PHENOMENAL. First of all, the writing in this novel was beautiful and fantastic -- not your typical YA lit. As I was reading, I kept feeling like this was real, like Mare's story really happened. (Think Henry VIII scandals and wife-rebellion.)
