This book was AMAZING!! Pieces of me want to give this book 5/5 but there is also a small piece that just wanted to be a little less predictable and for the main character Mare to have more of a romance with one of her choices!!

This book had it's issues but it was fun and easy to read. Perfect for pulling me out of a months long reading slump! The hardcover was gifted to me years ago by my mother in law and I've lately been eyeing it. When our library funding was threatened, I went straight to Libby to find some audiobooks to listen to. While scanning the available now audiobooks, I saw Red Queen and thought now is the time!

3.5 stars for me, while I enjoyed it I feel like I've read so much fantasy lately. All the stories seem to run together. But I did think the concept is interesting and I will be continuing the series to see where it goes. I will be honest I can't say I liked Mare but I did find her interesting. The world was interesting but I feel like I needed a map to help me out. I wonder if she intended it to be more dystopian then fantasy because she talked about the "old world". I hope she embellishes that ...more

I forced my hubby to preorder this one for me just because of ll the hype it was getting on goodreads and Facebook.
Well, that hype was very well deserved. It was an amazing read.
The story, the characters, the love, the writing. I cannot wait to read more from the author.
