Este livro fez-me aperceber das saudades que eu tinha de uma história de ficção científica e aventura. Dios mio. Dios mio.

No tengo palabras para explicar lo mucho que amo al autor, Ernest Cline. Y no solo por su manera de describir escenas, o por como explica cada detalle para que te sientas ahí, o por transmitir su interés por los videojuegos sin siquiera haberlos jugado antes; si no por el mundo que creo con su novela.

Y si, ya se, el libro se pone un poco largo después de un tiempo. Ya se, el no tener idea de los juegos que constantemente nombra es un poco confuso. Pero la trama es fantástica, ...more

I can say with 100% certainty that this is the most creative book that I've very had the pleasure of reading. It was so good. So, so, so GOOD! My God was it good! I don't know how many times I can say that. The world building in this was on point, the characters were fascinating and complex, the plot was fun, exciting and innovative. I really enjoyed all of the book's pop culture references (which honestly was the biggest draw to reading this book at all for me and Cline does not disappoint!), and the plot line with constant games and riddles really kept me engaged. The writing style and use of detail is so developed that is easy as a reader to become fully immersed in the story and forget that this is just a book and not a real life event. This book was very enjoyable for me. As a lifelong Nerd/Geek/ Sci-Fi Lover, I could not help but like it. I also grew up during the golden age of arcade video games. Lol. A review I read described the book as "A total Nerdgasm from start to finish" and that it is! My only question throughout was how a guy in his early 20's managed to watch and Rewatch everything mentioned....ha ha! But the book has a fun plot and good suspense! ...more

This book has pretty much been sitting on my tbr for years, so with news of the movie adaptation coming out I figured it was time for me to finally pick it up. I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a major gamer, but I'm not a stranger to video games either so I knew this would make my nerdy heart happy.

While it did take me quite a while to get into the book, once I finally got into how the world works I was immediately hooked. The world Wade lives in, both in the online world and real world, b This book has pretty much been sitting on my tbr for years, so with news of the movie adaptation coming out I figured it was time for me to finally pick it up. I wouldn't necessarily consider myself a major gamer, but I'm not a stranger to video games either so I knew this would make my nerdy heart happy.

While it did take me quite a while to get into the book, once I finally got into how the world works I was immediately hooked. The world Wade lives in, both in the online world and real world, both intrigued me and also was a bit terrifying (the global energy crisis and lack of sustaining the planet doesn't seem that far of a stretch honestly). I was intrigued about the OASIS, and it's mentioned that it's pretty much taken over the world and changed how people live; Wade even goes to school in it, and I immediately felt jealous because how cool would it be to go to school in a virtual reality world?

The contest that this book is centered around is interesting and with each level I was on the edge of my seat as I read on to see certain things play out. Wade is sarcastic and funny as hell, and it's not hard to root for him in this book.

My only complaints about this book would have to be there were moments were there was just so much detail in describing certain situations or objects that it was frustrating almost, as certain scenes were bogged down so much with details. However, given this I think the amount of details given makes it easily able to be adapted to a movie, and I'm interested how the final outcome will turn out. There's also the issue of '80s references; while I understood most, they were all super specific and characters went into so much detail about how much they knew. I also didn't grasp the fact that Wade outside of the OASIS was portrayed as alienated in the real world; if a contest with an over $200 billion grand prize was in effect today, you can bet that people who have never picked up a controller to any gaming system before would be trying their luck at it and therefore it wouldn't have been considered super nerdy to partake in the virtual reality world.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and I'm glad I finally picked this up and I'll definitely want to see the movie when it comes out later in the year. I'll eventually make a video review on this, as there's so much more I want to discuss :) ...more

No words can describe how much I loved this book!! I tecvimend it to every geek and nerd out there!! I don't know if I've ever related to a character more than I did to Wade!! I will officially pick anything Mr. Cline writes, and I can't wait till I do!!

I am so happy Wade won and split the money with everyone!!! I really loved how this ended, but I was still in suspense the whole time, which is great!! Can't wait for the rumored sequel!! ...more

I loved this book!! It was super addicting and if I wasn't busy yesterday then I probably would of finished it in one day. The story line was was so cool and probably what got me hooked onto it was the similarly that SAO (Sword Art Online [an anime]) had. Except they are also very different. I didn't end up picking up this book for a long time (I've owned it since January) but I'm glad I finally got around to it in the summer so that I could read it fast. ...more
