Hindsight being what it is, sending orphaned children on a train to Midwest families with little to no knowledge of the families reputations is an appalling idea. The "Orphan Train" interweaves the stories of a couple children's lives from that time with the current life of a girl in the foster system now. The parallels are a sad reminder that there are no easy answers for these children. Yet the resiliency of humans, the ability to become stronger and better because of hardships and in spite of them, that is the story.
