I'm really not sure what to write here except to say that I loved this book!
I listened to this as an audio book, and my usual rule when deciding whether to read something as a book or to listen to it as audio is that if it is near the bottom of my to read list I will choose it as an audio otherwise I'll probably never get around to reading it (I know I'm not alone in having a to read list that is impossibly long). I really don’t know how to rate this book. It was so well written that while the character Stevens was an incredibly tedious bore, I found myself loving him and being so incredibly sad for him. How did this writer make me love a book that spent four pages describing the nature of banter?! Wish that I had read this with my book club- so that I could discuss this and perhaps be better able to articulate exactly how much I liked (or disliked this book)

Not sure. iT was very simply crafted with a slow delivery. it portrayed the character of the butler to a tee, and left no doubt that he was married to his job and position. That was all the mattered until Lord died, and he has a new American boss.
