I really don’t know what to say about this book. The writing was beautiful and the story was lovely, it just didn’t grab me like I imagined it would.
I have picked up and put down this book may times over the past 10 days and through sheer determination I made it to the end.
Maybe I have read too many World War Two novels recently, maybe it’s too near Christmas to concentrate fully.
Whatever the reason, I can appreciate the good writing but can say this book was not meant for me at this time.

I don't know that I've ever read a book set in this time period that really brought me to a place where I felt like I was watching everything happen through the eyes of the characters - until now. The alternating points of view bring to life a series of events in a way that makes you feel everything the characters are feeling, you hope with them, you fear with them, you anger with them, sometimes you might even sob for them.
