From the first few pages, it's obvious why this book has been at the top of the best seller's list for so long. Not a single page of this book was boring, which is a pretty amazing feat considering its length. Go read it!

Superbly written. stunningly beautiful. Pulitzer Prize winner.

I loved this book, the prose is very lyrical and the story, which shifts across the early days and the ending days of World War II, is tremendously compelling. Beautifully written characters, alternating primarily between a young blind French girl and a German boy drafted to become a radio engineer in the army. I don't think I had ever read a first-person narrative from the standpoint of a German soldier before, this book does a wonderful job of starting to illustrate some of the complexities in
