I've been hearing a lot of good things about the second book in this series, The Silkworm, so I decided to read this book first. I am not a big fan of mysteries, but I did enjoy this book. The writing was good and the book held my interest. I liked the main character and how you get a back story on him as well as the mystery at hand. I am waiting for the next book to become available from the library.

It was just ok basically. Considering who the author is I was expecting to get caught up in a world but that didn't really happen. It was overly detailed, too long with way too much description of London. Strike and Robin could be interesting characters but it didn't seem like they were really developed yet and the story just wasn't that exciting. I still want to read the other two but I wasn't overly impressed sadly.
