I picked up this book because a customer at B&N so enthusiastically recommended it....and I was not disappointed.
I am sad that Harry Potter is no longer a character in her books...but JK Rowling is a great writer and opening one of her books is like returning home....the words fit.

Well, I fell for all the red herrings I was supposed to while still guessing a few things (to feel a little bit smart).
Overall I enjoyed this quite a bit. I'm not super well read in mysteries but it seemed like a good one and, although Cormoran was a little rougher around the edges than I personally might have liked Robin was a 100% pure delight.
Knowing who Robert Galbraith is a pseudonym for, it was hard not to think about the light this book casts on fame and the press. (ALSO: was it a little ...more

In case there was any doubt, JK Rowling is a fabulous writer. I give her credit for putting this out under another name to see how it would do. And it is in a totally different style than Potter or Casual Vacancy. There were a couple times in Casual Vacancy when a certain turn of phrase would sound Rowling/Potteresque, not here.
