This was ok. I listened to the audiobook, which I think helped because the narrator did a good job. I was interested in the main adventure and the characters have potential, but the middle part sagged. I may still listen to the next part of the trilogy. I'm counting this for a reading challenge task to read the first book in a series I hadn't read before, and I feel like I should try to see where the series goes.

As a debut, this is a very nice book. It's unusual and I don't believe I've read anything like it. I like that it's short and sweet...who says every book should be 1000 pages? I feel it's just as challenging to keep the written word to a minimum instead of writing down every detail that comes to mind. I've read books that seem to meander into nothing. This book is not one of them, I'm happy to say.
