Another hard one to rate. I didn't like the first third of the book in part because I was listening to the audio version and thought the narrator was totally wrong for the character and the story. When I switched over to the print version I read the last 150 pages in almost one sitting. So, it definitely held my attention. It's another YA novel where kids have to survive horrible trials like The hunger games or Divergent, but it's not as good as those. Thomas is not as annoying as Katniss but he is also kind of vague as are all the characters in this, I guess that's kind of because of the premise of the story that they don't remember anything. And as soon as a lead character promises something to his side kick you know it won't end well.

Suspenseful, quick-read. Wish things had wrapped up a little more at the end. I likely would buy the next book anyway, but now I feel like I have to in order to get the full story. This new trend by authors/editors is somewhat infuriating.
Very slow start and an ending to set up the next book. Am curious to see how they do the movie as it seems a little Stephen King to me, meaning parts would be better in my imagination than seen.
I was happy to get this from the library on audio. There is a run on this title at the high school. Now I see what the hype is about.
Would probably give this book 3.5 stars. I enjoyed it but it never really sucked me in. Plus now I have to keep reading the series to find out what happened! Don't pick it up if you want a stand alone book.
