I enjoyed my reread of The Giver and read it over a couple of days. I originally read it when it came out (‘93) and then a couple times in the classroom and now 25 years later. My 4 stars is in response to the ground-breaking nature of the book back in the 90s. It really put the dystopian genre on the map for YA Lit. Love the ambiguous ending and look forward to discussing it with Book Club. I will have to read what the sequels ( or related novels) are about, too.

I had to read this before the movie comes out! Great book, quick read, 179 pages. There is a readers guide at the end which made me think of the ending differently. I will definitely check out the companion books soon.
