This book is a masterpiece. It was beautifully written, has memorable characters and is emotionally poignant. It made me cry so hard, laugh so hard, depressed so hard, elated so hard! haha It was enlightening, heartbreaking and frightening all at the same time. It made me love my pet dog even more. I can't wait to see the film and see Richard Parker in all his glory. This book will always be with me.

Yann Martel, I think you're a genius. The beginning was slow for me, although it was a work of art throughout. Lots of symbolism and I'm left reassessing after reading. Left me wistful and hopeful and just glad that books like this exist. Read before watching the movie because words this eloquent can't ever be translated to screen. The four stars?
