Amazing amazing amazing. I love this book. I just finished it last night- read it in one day- and I'm tempted to pick it back up and read it again. I just love the fairy tale aspect of it. I love the falling star and the witches seeking youth and the charms and the curses. Ah! I love it! And it's one of those rare situations where the movie is just as good as the book. Good times all around. Read it if you haven't already. ...more

This was my second reading (apparently) and I'm ashamed to admit that I remembered absolutely none of the story from the first year, so it was delightful and new to me! I'd like to find the original illustrated graphic novel of it to see Charles Vess's illustrations sometime.

P.S. I just looked and it was slightly over a decade ago that I first listened/read this, so I'm going to give myself a pass on not remembering it. A lot has happened in that decade and a LOT of other books! ...more

Seeing the movie first may have cheapened this for me. I almost gave it two stars. But then I upped it to three because the ending of the book was so much better than the ending of the film.
