I did a reread of this since I was in a book slump and it was just as good, if not better, than the first time I read it. It was a great escape.
This book deserves every award it's won. Stanley Yelnats is not a hero for the ages. He's an overweight, bullied kid whose life goes from bad to worse when he's wrongly convicted of theft and chooses to go to a "camp" rather than jail. But he does manage his own small triumphs that culminate in a big one, learning a few good life lessons along the way.
