Great little book! If my future children are readers, this is definitely one I'd like to set in front of them.

WHY did I wait so long to read this?? I blame Shia LaBeouf and a movie I had no desire to see. But, listening to this on audio and pulling together all of the threads of this modern folk tale (at least I feel like that's what it most closely resembles), was delightful.

This book deserves every award it's won. Stanley Yelnats is not a hero for the ages. He's an overweight, bullied kid whose life goes from bad to worse when he's wrongly convicted of theft and chooses to go to a "camp" rather than jail. But he does manage his own small triumphs that culminate in a big one, learning a few good life lessons along the way.
