Yeah. Get it.

I tried to read this a few years ago and couldn’t get into it—solid DNF. The timing must have been off because I’ve just now managed to inhale the book and can feel the slow burn of obsession creeping into the part of my brain that thinks about book characters like they are real people.

I’m like a moth to flame where wildly popular books are concerned, and given my penchant for smutty-smut, my eventual reading of this book in its entirety was somewhat of a foregone conclusion, alth ...more

This book was passed to me because I have been making so much fun of it...and one needs to know what they are making fun of. :) Four stars??? Before you start shaking your head---know that I was so surprised at how much better the book was than the reviews I read...that I believed the book deserved more stars.
1) I am sex positive. I have little issues talking about sex----and hearing about different fetishes/styles....etc.
2) I listen to Dan Savage's podcast "Savage Love".....so I am not a 60s ...more

Anastasia Steele's subconscious couldn't inflict any more shame on me than what I already feel for reading this drivel. It reads like an 8th grader's creative writing project...with some help from a knowledgeable older cousin for the sex parts. I can't fathom what a Christian Grey would find so absorbing about a girl like Ana, but perhaps it is because she is the only woman on the planet that consistently has "soul-shattering" orgasms with little to no effort. ...more

I found the book to be very good. The build up of the action was just slow enough to be tantalizing. I read through the pages very quickly sometimes 100 pages in a sitting. As I came closer to finishing the book, it got slower and hard to get through. I had accidentally looked at the end when I was looking to see how many chapters there were.
