YA is not my usual thing, however my book club chose it, so I went with it. Holocaust is a subject I tend to avoid because, well, it is hard to read.
A piece of art. It's written beautifully with gorgeous descriptions of heart-wrenching scenes. It was not easy to read for a few reasons, including the heart-wrenching part. Oh my goodness. I love it when a book moves me beyond words? This was one of those wonderful books that after I finished the last sentence, I just sat... and thought....and cried a little....and smiled a lot. I cannot gush enough about this book. The writing is vivid and spectacular. I fell in love with the characters- even Rosa Huberman.

What a tremendous book. Zusak writes like a symphony, so incredibly poetic. If it weren't for the incredibly devastating backdrop, I would have wanted this book to go on forever. This isn't my usual read - The name caught me and I went for the ride not knowing much, but falling in love with every word written, every character. I feel richer for having read it. Thank You.

It took me a while to read this book but I loved it. I have read a few books now about the Jews in the Second World War but never about the Germans. It was fascinating to read as it showed the sad part of German life in the war and how they suffered. A really sad story but at the same time it was uplifting.

I don't think I've been that devastated at the end of a book in a long time.
