I wish I hadn't heard about this book until much closer to October. Cannot wait! I have a space for it on my shelf between Tina Fey & Mindy Kaling.

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book. With Bossypants and Mindy Kaling's books, I devoured them and immediately wanted to be their best friend. With Yes, Please, I slogged through it, often in tears, because her thoughts, insights and opinions felt plucked from my own brain. (Minus the comedic timing, Hollywood career and fabulous guest stars.) I know we are unlikely to meet, but it's calming to know their is a kindred spirit out there.

When I heard Amy Poehler was writing a book I could not wait for its release date to arrive. I made a spot for her on my books by funny people shelf, right between Tina Fey's Bossypants and Mindy Kaling's last book. So really, this was destined to get a pretty high rating from me before I even started to read.

I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more...Amy Poehler seems like a swell person I'd really love to be friends with. She's smart and sweet and sensitive, but she's also ornery and sassy and tough. And I like every one of those qualities. She also seems to be on a bit of a spiritual quest to "be here now" which I appreciate and can relate to. And anyone who quote Pema Chodron is a-okay in my book!

If you are going to read this book I definitely suggest the audio version. The cameos and add ons make the book more enjoyable than I think a print version would be. There is a little bit of swearing though sprinkled throughout so be careful if you're listening through speakers rather than headphones.
