This was the first time I'd re-read Paper Towns since it's release in 2008, so I was very interested to see how my perspective would change. On a personal level I have changed tremendously since reading this book for the first time, having not even had my first kiss or started high school back then. This book took me about a week to finish. I don't want to throw all the hate at this book, but I just could not deal with it. I hated Q, I hated Margo. I really enjoyed Radar though, he was my redeeming point in this book because he kept things realistic. Quentin puts everything on the line for this girl who he has not spoken to since they were little, he gets pissed at his friends for having other interests other than Margo and he fails to understand the ridiculousness that is his quest to save ...more

I read this to screen it before my 13 year old daughter reads it. I think there are things that you can learn from this book, mostly that people are often not as you expect "on the inside". At the end there is discussion about cracks in a person and that's how the light gets in. This was so reminiscent of Loise Penny's inspector Gamache series but in my opinion Penny does it so much better.
