While the book combines basic elements from Maas and Pierce Brown, rather than seeming as though the author has copped out, there are enough unique elements to make the story simply feel familiar. The plot is fast paced and engaging, and the characters have a certain level of depth. Suspension of disbelief is easy, and the storyline is enjoyable. All in all, it's a quick, light read. ...more
