This is probably the book that has been on my TBR shelf the longest - probably a good 30 years or more. Maybe that's because I generally don't like anthropomorphism, but I'm glad to say this is a delightful exception.

It's been a long time since I read this--maybe around time I'd read LAST UNICORN by Peter Beagle (possibly when those were new books). Had been thinking of reading again (or at least refreshing my memory by finding some critical commentary). I wonder if has any resemblance to children's classic, RABBIT HILL?

I may have liked this more if I'd read it or had it read to me as a child. Not bad but not quite what I expected either.
