What Members Thought

Lots of thoughts about Emma, which started terribly slow and ended much more quickly. I benefitted greatly from having seen Emma Approved and a great 2009(?) BBC adaptation of Emma. I also benefitted greatly form having discussed Emma at length with a friend while we watched Emma Approved. (That same friend was kind enough to let me bombard her with emails about my thoughts on the book, even as she is studying abroad.)

Reading this book in my 30s versus the first time I read it, in my early 20s, was quite a different experience! I got to see Emma from a whole new vantage point, and it was fun seeing how my perception of her evolved as the story unfolded. Likewise, the character of Mr. Knightley was far more entertaining this time around than it was the first time around!
