This book was pretty decent. We learned more about the Announcers and Outcasts, and Lucinda learned more about herself. But, in the end, she still didn't know as much about herself, her past, or her love with Daniel as she wanted to, so she traveled backwards in time. Now, it's upto Daniel to find her and save her.

I did quite like that she got to go home to see her family for Thanksgiving. I just knew that wouldn't be the end, though. ...more

Shelves: angels-nephilim, past-lives

So I don't really know how to go about this one...
But here are the things I'm sure of:
1) I absolutely LOVED and ADORED Fallen, the first installment.
2) There are going to be at least 2 more books after this one.
3) I really need to read Fallen again, because of how amazing it was.
4) I'm going to continue with this series because it intrigues me in so many different ways that I can't even begin to describe them.
And, well, that's all I've got.
Fallen is one of those novels that could have easily sto So I don't really know how to go about this one...
But here are the things I'm sure of:

And, well, that's all I've got.
Fallen is one of those novels that could have easily stood on its own. It was and is a beautiful story, and could have ended there. But the one thing I am satisfied about with this second book is that it really wasn't just a filler book, a problem I have had with some series. Luce became more self-realized in this one. Yes, she made many stupid decisions (don't all female protagonists in these YA novels?), but she didn't let Daniel just keep things from her without putting up a fight. This series suddenly became more about Luce, rather than Daniel and Luce. Although I missed Daniel throughout the book, I enjoyed their tasty little moments--even if they did end in strife--and got to know some new characters.
I though it was kind of strange that Daniel and Cam (apparently in cahoots now with Luce's safety in jeopardy) put Luce into another boarding school in California. I also love how Kate stereotyped the Californians that went there, and she lives here! As do I, of course, which is why I can make this judgement. She made them all out to be basically stoners and "free thinkers". LA is one of the most hectic places in the US and living here she should know that. It only bothered for like a second though, so no harm no foul. :)
There are no spoilers as you can see in this one because, well, there's really not too much to spoil. Luce sees some of her past lives through the shadows that she used to be afraid of and can now understand, she and Daniel fight (no big surprise there), and she questions who she is with Daniel and without him. Again no surprise. I wouldn't say this book is predictable though, but if you really think about it and read the premise on the cover, there's no other way for this book to go.
Of course it ended on a cliffhanger... Damn you authors for making us buy your next book by enticing us with promises of adventure and true love! I AM excited for this next book, to see what happens next, hoping that Luce grows more into herself and that she and Daniel can grow together.

Love square? Was that really necessary? Cam obviously still cares about Luce because he's constantly around the school trying to protect her and saves her neck a couple times, Daniel is a given, and then there's Miles... Plain, old, everyday, barely Nephilium Miles. Which was coincidentally exactly what Luce needed after fighting with the great and distracted angel Daniel. It's just too bad that she's stupid and had a huge lapse in judgement by "letting" Miles kiss her on her window ledge with Daniel, of course, watching in the shadows... The phrase that comes to mind is: you stupid, stupid whore! No matter how bad things are, you just don't cheat. No if's, and's or but's! This guy has waited for you for centuries to be reborn over and over again to love you and you cheat on him with the first guy that's nice and sweet and has perty eyes? Seriously? I mean, it's realistic (so not knocking the author here), but I mean seriously? I hope she starts making better decisions (although I'm not sure stepping into an Announcer and not knowing where it will take her isn't the best decision). ...more

at first im so confused of the story..and i dont know what truce and end times will gonna do to the love story of daniel and luce but as soon as i finish reading it...i got more excited to read the next book
